Travis Kelce is currently one of the best players in the league. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end helped his team finish the 2022 season as Super Bowl Champions. Growing up, Kelce wanted to become a quarterback; however, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid doesn’t like what he sees in Travis while slinging the rock.
After a lot of requests from the fans, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid finally made an appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce. During the episode, Reid talked about a variety of topics, including his days as the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Additionally, when Travis playing at the QB position became the topic, Reid hilariously roasted the 4-time All-Pro tight end.
Travis Kelce asked Andy Reid when he found out that Kelce wasn’t cut for playing at the QB position. Reid responded that it took a couple of tries to figure that one out. The Super Bowl-winning head coach cited the 8-time Pro Bowl tight end’s interception against the New York Giants and one disastrous play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the reason Kelce should stick to being Patrick Mahomes‘ No. 1 offensive weapon.

Andy Reid talks about Travis Kelce playing as quarterback
During a game against the Buccaneers, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce messed up a beautifully drawn trick play by darting a simple pass to his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
“We’ve got this play, we called it a black pearl and it was a beautiful thing. So we get Tyreek [Hill] to toss the ball Kels and Patrick goes in the endzone,” said Reid. “One corner covers them both and your brother choked. So this is like in the first/second quarter and it ruined him the rest of the game.”
However, Reid did acknowledge Travis’ arm strength in the episode. “Now this guy has the best arm ever and this was like a 5-yard throw. Not even a 5-yard throw, he could’ve run it in,” said Reid.
The eight-time Pro Bowl TE Travis Kelce has four passing attempts in the NFL. He has completed two of his four pass attempts for 6 yards and one touchdown while throwing one interception.
It looks like Kelce, who played as a quarterback during his high school days, made a good decision to switch to the tight end position. He is one of the greatest tight ends to ever step onto the football field, and he doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon.
