Indianapolis Colts‘ rookie QB Anthony Richardson is a two-way threat. A perfect modern quarterback to build your franchise around. Richardson started his NFL career with a great performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars albeit in a loss. He completed 24 of his 37 pass attempts for 223 yards, one score, and one touchdown. He also ran 10 times for 40 yards and a rushing touchdown. Despite the loss, it was a good performance from the rookie.
The Colts’ second game is against the Houston Texans. The Texans themselves are starting their rookie QB CJ Stroud this season. In the battle of the first-round picks, Richardson has come out firing on all cylinders as he already has two rushing touchdowns giving the Colts the early lead.
Fans on social media are already calling Richardson a potential early favorite for the offensive ‘Rookie of the Year’. Former Colts punter and current NFL analyst Pat McAfee believes that Richardson has already secured the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He is excited for sure!
However, Richardson suffered a concussion in the second quarter of that game and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. It will be interesting to see how Richardson and the Colts will perform this season, assuming he makes a quick return from his injury. He has had a great start to his NFL career and he will look to keep this going. The Colts will play their next game against the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday.
Anthony Richardson exits the game against the Houston Texans with a concussion
Anthony Richardson started the Indianapolis Colts’ week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans with a couple of quick rushing touchdowns. However, he suffered a concussion in the first half and was ruled out of the remainder of the game.

Backup QB Gardner Minshew will replace Richardson after he was escorted to the locker room in the second quarter. The Colts were leading the game 14-7 when Richardson was ruled out of the game. Minshew, however, took control of the game immediately as he led a six-play, 76-yard TD drive.
The Colts will hope that Richardson’s injury isn’t severe and he will be back for the Colts’ next game against the Baltimore Ravens. He had a good start to the season and it will be a shame to not have him play as much as he can. Minshew will be the QB till then.
