Anthony Richardson, the Florida product, was impressive during the 2023 NFL Combine and caught the eye of many teams. The draft prospect lit up Indianapolis and is slated to be the No.1 overall draft pick.
The NFL 2023 draft is going to be a QB affair as many teams are in need of quality QBs and with players like C.J. Stroud, Richardson and Bryce Young on the draft, there is bound to be some competition for the top spot. However, after exceptional performance in the Combine, the Florida QB is eyeing the top spot as many have touted him to be the next big name in the league.
NFL analyst Rich Eisen was present in Indianapolis throughout the Combine and had some interesting things to say about the young QB. Eisen thinks Richardson is in the running for the top spot and will be the biggest surprise package in the NFL.
“A rumor I’ve heard is don’t discount Anthony Richardson as the first overall pick,” Rich Eisen said regarding Anthony Richardson. The Florida QB has great potential and has even set two records at this year’s Combine.
He set the record for a vertical jump by putting in 40.5 inches and also set the record for broad jump by jumping for 10’9″. The 6’4 and 244 pound QB is strong and swift and can cause serious damage to the opposition when unleashed.

Anthony Richardson is being compared to various NFL QBs
The NFL has the best QBs in the country, and when a college QB like Anthony Richardson gets compared to them, then it’s a huge praise for the youngster. Many evaluators during the Combine compared Richardson to the likes of Bills QB Josh Allen, former Panthers QB Cam Newton and Bears QB Justin Fields.
This is huge praise for a young QB who has been nothing but impressive in his short career in college football. However, the QB has also big aspirations and has stated the desire to play in the NFL since day 1. It’s pretty rare that a first year QB becomes a starter for any team.
However, Richardson looks like an exception and many teams will be fighting for his signature during the first round of the NFL draft. The draft has suddenly become interesting as there are three quality QBs who will be fighting for the top spot.
It will be interesting to see who has a better first year in the NFL. Will it be C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young or Anthony Richardson?
