The NFL 2023-24 season is almost at its end. With just one week to go, players are now getting spotted to make it to the Pro Bowl list. The 49ers team has already announced their Pro Bowl selection through a social media post. They seemed happy to announce their members making it to the Pro Bowl.
While the 49ers have celebrated their official selection, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have attracted certain criticism after their players got selected for the Pro Bowl. Antoine Winfield Jr. the safety for the Bucs failed to make it to the team. But he was selected as the first alternative. Instead, it was Budda Baker who made it to the Pro Bowl squad.
This decision garnered criticism. Antoine Winfield Sr. his father took a jibe at Baker and also the selection process that left his son behind. He directly questioned the league and its way of choosing players. He wrote:
WE DEMAND A RECOUNT. NFL somebody has some explaining to do!!! Aint’ NO WAY in HELL Buddha Baker goes to the Pro Bowl ahead of My lil man with NO STATS. I know how important ProBowls are on the Resume & it just so happens to be his Contract year. We ain’t going for the Bullshit. Somebody Need to Holla at me.Antoine Winfield Sr. on Instagram
One may find some argument in Winfield Sr’s claim if the person looks at the stats that they both share. Budda Baker has committed 77 tackles this season while not registering a single interception. In addition, he registered forced fumbles, zero fumble recoveries, and zero sacks. On the other hand, Winfield registered 117 tackles 5 FFs, 4 FRs and three interceptions. The difference is Winfield played 16 while Baker played 11.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a 56% chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs
The Buccaneers had all the opportunity to secure their spot in the playoff against the New Orleans Saints. However, they failed to secure it. The quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was having a stellar time on the field, threw two interceptions and failed to secure anything until the fourth quarter.
Despite losing to the Saints, the Bucs will have the opportunity to clinch a spot in the postseason. The Bucs will have a faceoff against the weak Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are having a poor 2-14 record.
The Bucs are expected to beat the Panthers. As per the playoff stimulator of the New York Times, the Bucs have a 56% chance to make it to the playoffs.
