Antonio Brown is back to doing what he does best, creating controversies. The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver jumped on the bandwagon that the NFL is rigged after the Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl LVII game against the Philadelphia Eagles by a 38-35 margin. However, the victory was marred with controversy after a poor referring decision had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
The NFL officials called a penalty against Eagles’ cornerback James Bradberry, for holding onto Chiefs’ JuJu Smith-Schuster after failing to receive a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The flag thrown with only 1:55 remaining on the clock worked perfectly to the advantage of the Chiefs, as they scored a field goal in the dying seconds of the game.

The Eagles were unable to receive possession and only did so with 6 seconds remaining on the clock to complete the formalities. The decision to award a penalty for the contact seemed very harsh, as Smith-Schuster looked in no position to grab hold of the Mahomes pass.
A majority of the fans and NFL analysts felt that the penalty should not have been awarded in a game of this magnitude. It also prompted fans to claim that the NFL is rigged, and the Chiefs had gotten preferential treatment throughout the current season.
Brown joined in on the conversation, moments after the match, sharing his thoughts about the rigged theories. He shared an old video of popular rapper Kanye West talking about the NFL being rigged with the caption, “Moon Walking with Mahomes.”
In the video, Kanye West suggested that the NFL helped Tom Brady win his seventh Super Bowl title in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Incidentally, that game too was against the Chiefs, and West identified a discrepancy in the way Patrick Mahomes passed during that game.
Despite widespread speculations regarding the transparency of the NFL, nothing concrete has come up to suggest that the NFL is actually rigged. The penalty call simply might have been an aberration in what was an exceptional Super Bowl game, otherwise with both teams fighting tooth and nail to win the Lombardi Trophy.
