On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints defeated their NFC South division rivals, the Atlanta Falcons, in their week 18 matchup. Following the game, the Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith was seen cussing out the Saints’ head coach Dennis Allen for running up the score with a sneaky garbage time touchdown.

During the final minute of the game, the Saints were leading by 24 points and were facing 1st and goal from the Falcons’ 1-yard line. Most people expected the Saints to take a knee and run the clock out. Instead, the Saints running back Jamaal Williams pounded the ball in for a New Orleans touchdown to extend their lead.

Why the f**k would you do that, man? Why the f**k did you do that? It's f**king bulls**t
Smith said to Allen

Even Allen agreed with Smith and patted his back. Later, Allen explained in the press conference that his players wanted their teammate Jamaal Williams to score at least one touchdown in the season and went against his advice to score the touchdown instead of taking a knee. Nonetheless, the Saints ended up winning the game comfortably. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South division with a solid record of 9 wins and 8 losses. The Saints also have the same record, but the Bucs qualified based on having a tiebreaker advantage compared to the New Orleans-based football team.

It got out of hand. You can do whatever you want. I just gave them my opinion about it.
Smith said according to Zach Klein of WSB

Despite disagreeing with the Saints’ decision to sneak a garbage time touchdown, Smith acknowledged his team got outplayed on the field on Sunday.

It doesn’t take away the fact that they beat us in that second half and took advantage of our turnovers and hit some shots.
Smith said

The Falcons ended their 2023 campaign with 7 wins and 10 losses. Now, Smith’s future in Atlanta is in question due to the team’s underwhelming campaigns during his tenure. The Falcons organization has some tough decisions to make in the upcoming off-season.
