Nnamdi Asomugha and Asante Samuel
Nnamdi Asomugha was a talented cornerback who was once being looked at as the next big thing in the world of the NFL. After delivering incredible performances at the University of California during his college days, it was evident that he will roped in by a top franchise in the NFL which is exactly what happened.
The 6 feet 2 inches tall cornerback was eventually roped in by the Oakland Raiders back in 2003 and he stayed with the franchise till 2010. He then spent a couple of years with the Philadelphia Eagles and after a short stint with the San Francisco 49ers, he finally decided to call it quits.

“His level of play fell really low”: Asante Samuel on Nnamdi Asomugha
When Asomugha was first roped in by the Eagles for $60 million for a period of five years, there was a lot of hype about how he’ll perform. However, it seems like his teammates in Philadelphia weren’t really impressed by him right from the beginning. Talking about the same, Asante Samuel and LeSean McCoy had a few things to say on “I am Athlete” podcast.
“The first thing that comes to mind is how the NFL can manipulate, control the narrative to make things seem like they are not,” Asante claimed. “You can’t make up no excuses for the level of play if it falls this low from one team to another. You can’t be this good over here, and then you come over here and all of a sudden you ain’t that good because of this and that,” he added while talking about Asomugha.
LeSean then talked about the first day when Asomugha showed up for practice. He admitted that a lot of people in the team were excited to see how Asomugha will perform as he was big addition to the side, but all their expectations crashed in little to no time.
Asomugha was up against Brent Celek and the tight end absolutely burnt the newly roped superstar. LeSean claimed that after that, all the hype around Asomugha died down quickly. Although Nnamdi did achieve a lot in his illustrious career, for the Eagles he was just not able to deliver.
