Baker Mayfield has been successful so far in his attempt to revive his career as an NFL starting quarterback with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mayfield has led the Buccaneers to a solid 3-1 record through the first 4 weeks of the 2023 season. Most recently, the Bucs shocked everyone on Sunday by going into The Caesars Superdome and dominating the New Orleans Saints in their week 4 matchup.

During Sunday’s game against the Saints, an excited Baker made a vulgar comment, which has now gone viral on social media. In a short video posted on X by a user named joshthebucsfan, Mayfield could be heard on the Hot Mic saying, “My d–k got hard as soon as I saw him running in the motion back” to Chris Godwin after making a completion.

Obviously, Mayfield is saying that he was so pumped up after seeing the defender running up in motion which led to Chris Godwin getting wide open. But Baker’s bizarre way of saying that he was excited went viral on social media. Most Buccaneers fans were happy with Mayfield being vocal on the field and trash-talking the opponents.

Nonetheless, Baker Mayfield had a solid outing against the Saints as he completed a whopping 78.1% of his pass attempts for 246 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. After Mike Evans was ruled out earlier in the game with a hamstring injury, Mayfield targeted the other star wide receiver Chris Godwin for most of the game. Godwin caught 8 passes from Mayfield for 114 yards in the game.

As a result, the Buccaneers ended up defeating their NFC South division rivals Saints for the 3rd straight time in their head-to-head matchups. With that victory, the Bucs improved to 3-1 and are now sitting at the top of their division standings.

Baker Mayfield and the Bucs have surprised many experts

Following Tom Brady’s retirement, many experts predicted the Buccaneers to go back to the basement of the NFC South division. But surprisingly Mayfield and the Bucs have been balling out in the ongoing season.

Mayfield has played like a top 10 quarterback in the league as he has thrown for 882 yards, and 7 touchdowns while throwing just 2 interceptions in the ongoing season so far. Furthermore, he has a completion percentage of 69.6%, one of the best in the league.

If Baker and the Bucs can keep up their pace they could potentially become a playoff team despite the experts’ predictions for them to have a top 5 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. For now, the Bucs head into their early bye week with the sole possession of the NFC South division.
