Baker Mayfield's trade value came into the picture following USA's trade for Brittney Griner.
The Baker Mayfield slander train continues to speed as the quarterback who was recently waived off by the Carolina Panthers before being acquired by the Los Angeles Rams on the waiver wire faced the heat from fans yet again. This time Baker found himself in the midst of a subject which was in no way related to him.
Brittney Griner, the WNBA player who was detained in Russia for almost 10 months was released in an exchange for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, President Biden announced publicly. Griner was convicted on drug smuggling charges and the fight for her release has been going on for a long time now.
Griner was caught with vape cartridges that contained hash oil in her luggage. This is illegal in Russia and due to this, she was transferred to one of the most dangerous penal colonies in all of Russia. The USA condemned her conviction and did not believe she deserved to be put in a place where former inmates have described being tortured, getting beaten, and forced to perform physical labor.

So how did Baker Mayfield find himself in the midst of this fiasco? As soon as the news of Brittney Griner’s release broke out, the details of the actual trade emerged. The USA gets Griner while Russia gets Viktor, sports enthusiasts compared this exchange to trade between teams. Considering Baker Mayfield is in the news as he was just claimed off the waiver wire by the Rams, it took no time for NFL fans to chime in and mock the QB.

When it comes to arms, Viktor Bout may have been more consistent than Baker Mayfield, probably why Russia chose him.
In all fairness to the quarterback, this is all in good humor. Baker is a good player but he has had a rough stretch recently. Fans do want him to succeed and live up to his true potential.

Hopefully, Baker Mayfield proves the critics wrong by playing the best football of his life. He could not have gotten into a better situation as the Rams have a good team, while they have been plagued with injuries, they are still a significant upgrade over the Panthers’ situation.
