Odell Beckham Jr. is no longer a free agent. The Super Bowl champion wideout who last stepped on the NFL field in the 2021 Super Bowl for the Los Angeles Rams against the Cincinnati Bengals will soon be coming back. OBJ sustained a Knee ACL Tear Grade 3 injury while putting up monster numbers for the Rams in the most important game of his life. Unfortunately, he had to be taken out of the field halfway through.
Odell is now back and in recent months made it clear that he is looking to sign with teams that have faith in him and are willing to offer him the bag. The wideout had met with numerous teams and all of them were willing to sign him but teams were reluctant when it came to offering him big money as he has just recovered from an ACL injury, an injury that has a significant impact on the style of the athlete’s game before and after surgery.

However, OBJ is a free agent no more. The Baltimore Ravens who have been rather quiet all offseason have made a splash and done so in a BIG way. The Ravens have signed Odell to a one-year deal worth $18 million as per ESPN. This moment would be a bittersweet one for QB Lamar Jackson, who is struggling to get his money via an extension for the past year.
Odell Beckham Jr. will be getting $15 million GUARANTEED as per the contract

The new deal signed between the Baltimore Ravens and Odell Beckham Jr. guarantees him $15 million and the incentives extend the contract up by an additional $3 million. Baltimore had reportedly had their eyes on OBJ since last year and met up with him two weeks prior at the annual league meeting. The Ravens may have just taken Aaron Rodgers’s lunch money away from him because the QB who is set to join the New York Jets wanted OBJ on the team and Odell was scheduled to visit the Jets a day later!
The new deal puts immense pressure on OBJ as he is getting paid his worth and now, he has to prove it. Odell has to go out there and perform at the top of his game to prove that he is still THAT guy who remains unhinged even after sustaining one of the most horrific injuries an athlete can. The situation is also odd as it adds more tension between the Baltimore Ravens and QB Lamar Jackson in his contract negotiations.
Lamar has been struggling to get paid for a year and the Ravens do not appear to be inclined to take the risk they took on OBJ on their QB as he has been franchise tagged by them for the 2023 season. Lamar will nevertheless be happy, as OBJ is an asset that any team and QB across the league would be grateful to have onboard.
Odell has already become the top wideout for the Ravens. Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, Devin Duvernay, Tylan Wallace, James Proche II, Andy Isabella, Mike Thomas, and Shemar Bridges, none of them have a single 1000-yard season while OBJ has had 5 of them. While the Ravens do rely heavily on the run game, their passing game has not been the best. The team needs to improve in terms of yards by wideouts and what better way to do that than by signing a certified stud like OBJ?
With this signing, Odell gets a place he can call home for the next year. OBJ revealed his new team via an Instagram post with the caption “Flock.” The wideout visited top contenders earlier, such as the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and his former team, the NY Giants, but they all failed to come to any mutual agreements. With his new contract as a Raven, it will be exciting to see what Odell Beckham Jr. has in store for fans and how far along will his addition help the Ravens.
