Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens is one of the most electrifying players at his position, maybe ever in the NFL. He won the league MVP in 2019, but since then has struggled to replicate that season, mainly due to injuries. He enters the 2023 season fully healthy and with a lot of expectations. The Ravens recently added Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr. to add more depth to the Ravens WR group.
Former NFL linebacker and current analyst, Bart Scott believes that Jackson will replicate what the Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts did last season. In a recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, Scott said, “Everything that Jalen Hurts did last year, I think Lamar Jackson will be able to do.” He further continued, “The big difference is … when Lamar Jackson gets into the open field they’re going to be touchdowns.”
Scott suggested that Jackson can win the MVP again as he has the weapons around him for the first time. “I think it’s going to be Lamar Jackson because for the first time we are going to see Lamar Jackson with weapons.”
Hurts carried his team to the Super Bowl last season and Jackson will be hoping to do the same this year. The AFC is loaded with great teams and Baltimore is one of them. If Jackson has a season anything close to his MVP season, the NFL is in for a wild ride. The Ravens open their season against the Houston Texans on September 10.

Can Lamar Jackson and the Ravens dethrone Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs this season?
Lamar Jackson has weapons this season, and most of them are healthy. The former MVP will enter this season with the expectation of making a deep playoff run. The AFC is full of teams in the same tier as the Ravens, none bigger than the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last season defeating the Philadelphia Eagles.
Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the league MVP as well as the Super Bowl MVP. He is widely considered to be the best player in football, irrespective of the position. For the first time in his career though, Jackson has the weapons to compete with Mahomes and the Chiefs. This is the perfect time for the Ravens to dethrone the Chiefs and make a Super Bowl run.
The Ravens’ 24 preseason game win streak ended on Monday against the Washington Commanders. They will play their final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 27. Jackson and the Ravens begin their campaign against the Houston Texans on September 10.
