“Most talented football player in the NFL,” Bart Scott CLAIMS Lamar Jackson will dominate the league if the Ravens give him great receivers

Bart Scott says Lamar Jackson is a generational talent and the Ravens should do everything in their power to retain the guy.

All eyes in the league are set on a few teams on the verge of losing the most crucial player in their locker room – the quarterback. Green Bay Packers are unsure where they stand with Aaron Rodgers, who is yet again doing his ‘will he won’t he’ retirement drama after signing a three-year $150 million contract extension.

The Baltimore Ravens are also in the same boat as the Packers as they are unable to reach an agreement with former first-round pick Lamar Jackson. Jackson is demanding upward of a $230 million fully guaranteed deal and the front office is unwilling to shell out such a massive amount to him.

Even though it’s a huge amount, Lamar Jackson has earned to right to demand that contract given his production since 2018 and his 2019 Unanimous NFL MVP season. Truth be told, he is a better quarterback than Deshaun Watson, who has a $230 million guaranteed contract from the Cleveland Browns.

Bart Scott believes the Ravens should give Lamar Jackson reliable offensive weapons

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker turned analyst Bart Scott had an interesting take on the whole Lamar Jackson drama on ESPN’s Get Up. “The Ravens have find themselves in unfamiliar territory. They’ve never had a generational talent at the quarterback position,” Scott said. “Lamar Jackson is easily top 10 greatest Raven of all time.”

Scott went on to add that the Ravens should take a page out of the Pittsburgh Steelers playbook. When the Steelers signed Ben Roethlisberger in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, they knew right away that he was the ‘franchise guy’ capable of winning the Super Bowl. So, naturally, the Steelers went ahead and signed the best weapons to elevate Roethlisberger. Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, and Santonio Holmes were brought into the fold for Big Ben and he went on to deliver two Super Bowl wins for the franchise.

“The Ravens have to recognize that they have to put the piece around Lamar Jackson because I believe out of all the quarterbacks there are in the league, I think Lamar Jackson is the most talented,” Scott said further. He also added that Jackson has proven himself to be a great running QB, but because of the lack of offensive weapons around him, he is unable to show the skills he possesses while throwing the football.

Baltimore has Demarcus Robinson, Devin Duvernay, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Thomas as the receiving core of the Ravens’ locker room. Statistically speaking, none of these receivers have more than 600 receiving yards in a season except for Watkins, who had a breakout season in 2015 with the Buffalo Bills. So, there is a point to Bart Scott’s opinion that Jackson would flourish in Baltimore if he had great receivers surrounding him.

“Lamar Jackson is the most talented football player in the NFL. We haven’t seen the tip of the iceberg. Get this man DeAndre Hopkins, get him the weapons!” Scott added as he continued to urge the Ravens to sign Jackson before other teams in the league recognized his greatness and signed him. Let’s see how the Ravens’ front office feels and whether they extend Jackson’s contract. Only time will tell!
