Russell Wilson is having a tough time. The Denver Broncos are down by 1-5 in week six and the quarterback has failed to do anything good for the team. Moreover, his relationship with head coach Sean Payton has also witnessed a downfall. Amidst this, a lot of speculations are circling in the air that the Broncos might bench Wilson in the coming time. From the next year onwards, he will be a benched quarterback for the Broncos.

Among analysts, Bart Scott is the one who believes this theory. On ‘Get Up’, Scott said that Wilson would not be starting from the next year onwards. His poor performance needs to be scrutinized and the Broncos team needs to bench him.

“I think it remains on the Broncos. They use under-draft or young quarterbacks. They use him as a bridge quarterback. At this moment, his reputation also precedes him as well…. You know what happened last year. What happened at the locker room,” the analyst said, citing his opinion that Russell should not get a start from the next year onwards.

Russell Wilson has been a failure ever since he was traded to the Broncos. The last season was horrible for him. The Broncos finished with a record of 5-12. They almost matched their season-worst, which is 4-12.

Following the poor performance, the team management appointed Sean Payton as the HC, hoping that the new coach would bring the team back in line. In reality, the Payton-Wilson duo failed and Payton fell out at Wilson and openly criticized him for his slow gameplay.

Payton also suggested Wilson carry a wristband for fast gameplay and also said that the QB needs to focus on his career on the turf rather than on his public image.

Russell Wilson’s performance so far this season

Russel Wilson has covered 1,305 yards of passing with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 122 of his 185 passes with a completion rate of 65.9% in six games this season. The 2013 Super Bowl-winning QB did not have a good game against the Kansas City Chiefs, as he had one touchdown and two interceptions.

If Russell needs to stick to this team as a starting quarterback, he has to do something good in the coming games. The player also needs to maintain a good relationship with Sean Payton.

The Broncos are touted to go against the Jordan Love-led Green Bay Packers this weekend.
