Bears HC Matt Eberflus assures Justin Fields will be Chicago’s starting QB once he’s healthy despite rookie Tyson Bagent’s exceptional performance against the Raiders

In some shocking turn of events, the Chicago Bears beat the Las Vegas Raiders and the most surprising part is that the team did not had their first-choice quarterback, Justin Fields. They played with their backup, Tyson Bagent. The backup QB played really well and had a great impact on the match. After seeing the performance, questions are circulating whether Bagent would play as the first-choice QB and Fields would be the second one. 

The Bears head coach, Matt Eberflus, gave his verdict on this question. The HC does not feel that Bagent would be the first choice one. Eberflus also affirmed that the QB question is resolved at the Bears. They do not have any confusion. Bagent will be their backup quarterback and Justin Fields will start as a regular one. 

Justin is our starting quarterback. Tyson’s the backup, he came in and did a nice job--We don’t know where Justin is, we’ll see where he is, if it’s a week-to-week thing, we’ll assess it more tomorrow.
Eberflus said after the Raiders game 

Bagent had a decent game against the Raiders. He completed 21 of his 29 passes, had a touchdown, and covered 162 yards. In addition to this, the player led two touchdown drives and ran for 24 yards in three attempts.

Overall, he looked more convenient than Justin Fields. But sources said that the team is putting its bet on Fields. The management wants Fields to develop and fit in the system and they are not willing to try Bagent as the first-choice quarterback.

The Chicago Bears did not have the start they wanted. The team played seven games and won just two. They were down by 1-5. The win against the Raiders came as a surprise. Now they are holding a record of 2-5. It is to be seen whether they can win the coming matches.

In his six games, Fields has covered 1,201 yards of passing and has registered 11 touchdowns with six interceptions. He completed his 100 passes among 162 attempts and is carrying a passing completion rate of 61.7%. The numbers are not very high for a quarterback like him.
