The Cincinnati Bengals won their week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings in overtime, thanks to some impressive plays from their QB Jake Browning. They opened up in the third quarter with the Vikings taking a 14-point lead. However, the fourth quarter was all Browning as he willed his team back into the game and tied it with a deep touchdown pass to Tee Higgins with just seconds remaining in the game. The Bengals eventually won the game in OT.
Browning finished the game with 324 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. He completed 29 of his 42 pass attempts and had a rating of 97.7. The win saw the Bengals improve to 8-6 for the season and are in the hunt for a playoff spot. Browning has led the team to a 3-1 record since taking over from the team’s injured starter Joe Burrow. This win was important, not only for the Bengals but for Browning as well.
Browning was a member of the Vikings for two years but was unceremoniously cut by them. The Vikings signed Browning as an undrafted free agent as he stayed with them till the 2021 season. He had revenge on his mind while entering the game on Saturday.
There was definitely a little extra part (to this game).Browning told the reporters after the game.
He further continued:
I remember getting cut there (Minnesota) the last time, and just being told, 'Hey, we might have a spot for you on the practice squad. Go to the hotel and wait.' So, I sat in the hotel for a couple of hours not knowing if I had a job or not, and just basically got a call from my agent. They didn't tell me. I had been there for two years. I've been cut my fair share of times, and that was probably the (crappiest) one.
The second-string QB concluded by saying,
I think, right after we made the field goal to win the game, I screamed at a camera and said, 'They never should have cut me!'
The Bengals will play their next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday. They will hope to build on their win against the Vikings and grab a playoff spot by the end of the season.
Zac Taylor had high praise for ‘steady’ Jake Browning after their win over the Vikings
The Cincinnati Bengals’ win on Saturday over the Minnesota Vikings was an important one. Their QB Jake Browning was a huge reason for that victory. Their head coach Zac Taylor had huge praise for the quarterback after yet another impressive performance.
Jake’s just so steady, you know? He really is. He doesn’t get rattled by a negative play. He doesn’t overreact to it.Taylor said after the win.
Browning led the team to a 27-24 overtime victory in which the Bengals overcame a 14-point deficit.
The Cincinnati Bengals have won their last two games against two very good sides in Jacksonville Jaguars and the Vikings. They will look to continue this for the remainder of the season.
