Ever since he started as a wide receiver in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals, Ja’Marr Chase always made the league lighten up. And his connection and pairing with quarterback Joe Burrow make the offense absolutely dominant, as seen in some amazing games of the Bengals.
In a recent interview with SNL, the star wide receiver was asked who he thinks is the best defensive back that he played against in the NFL. Chase’s response was absolutely surprising as he named Tampa Bay Buccaneers corner Carlton Davis, as the best defensive back he ever faced.
Chase’s answer was quite unexpected as there are many talented corners in the league that he played against, especially in the AFC division. And out of many legendary cornerbacks, he considers Davis as the Best DB is quite incredible.
Though it is surprising, especially coming from WR Chase, it isn’t shocking. With Davis in its teams, Buc’s defense has improved significantly and remains pretty solid for half-decade now. Also, of all the corners that he has played against, Chase faced the most trouble with Davis’ play style. With that being said, wide receiver Chase seemed relieved as the Bengals do not get to face the Bucs and Davis that often in the league. Based on their schedule, they have a mega-divisional matchup against the Buffalo Bills coming this Monday, which will decide who leads the AFC race.
How the Bengals crushed the 49ers and revived their playoff hopes?
This season has been pretty hard on the Bengals, as their quarterback suffered injuries and their offense turned poorly. However, after last week’s offensive performance against the San Francisco 49ers, there seems to be high hopes for the team to lead the AFC. The team defeated the 49ers with a startling 31-17, improving their season standing at 4-3.
After recovering from his calf injury that slowed him down, quarterback Burrow got back to his old form, against the 49ers. He finished the game by completing 28-32 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. Over this, he recorded an impressive 43 rushing yards as the offense dominated the field.
The same goes for wide receiver Chase, who caught 10 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown, after making a few mistakes on the field. Since his rookie season, Chase has been the most important player for the Bengals and one of the best receivers in the league.
Last week, it seemed like the Bengals’ offense was back to its old form and the defense looked pretty solid too. If they continue this against the Bills as well, then it’s safe to say, they would get back in the playoff race in no time.
