The 2020 NFL Draft’s first-overall pick Joe Burrow has already started the contract extension talks with the Bengals in hopes of getting a deal done sooner. Along with Burrow, the Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, who was also drafted in the 2020 draft has also started contract negotiations but unlike the QB, Higgins is running out of time in Cincinnati.

Since Higgins was drafted in the second round, he doesn’t have a fifth-year option in his rookie contracts like Joe Burrow or Ja’Marr Chase. So, the 6’4″ wideout will hit free agency in 2024 and teams would certainly be interested in roping in the talented wide receiver who has two 1000-plus receiving yards in his first 3 years. If Higgins explored his options in the off-season, he would become an expensive player for the Bengals unless they signed him to a new contract before the start of the 2024 free agency.

So the franchise has already started contract extension negotiations with Higgins and both parties are hoping to close out the deal soon. Amidst this situation, the star wide receiver joined The Pat McAfee Show, where he talked about getting a new deal done with the Bengals.

“Yeah right now I’m just preparing for the season,” Higgins said on the show. “I’m not really worried about the contract. Obviously, I want to get a deal done but I let my agent handle that and you know right now just for me getting my body right for next season.”

During his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, the Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, who recently got back to training after some vacations showed some love to the former Pro Bowl quarterback Joe Burrow.

“Got my little vacations out the way so just started training,” Higgins said. “First day killed me had to get all the toxins out, but playing with Joe (Burrow) makes my job easier. You know what I’m saying.”

Tee Higgins is a massive asset to Joe Burrow and the Bengals. He is a wide receiver number 1, who is playing the role of number 2 receiver. Last season, when Chase missed some games due to injury, Higgins stepped up and had a good outing.

Higgins caught 74 passes for 1029 yards and 7 touchdowns in 16 games. The 24-year-old wide receiver is entering a contract year in 2023 and is expected to have a breakout season with the Bengals.
