The Cincinnati Bengals had an unfortunate start to this 2023-24 NFL season. They lost back-to-back games and Joe Burrow, their star quarterback, is having problems with his calves again. Against the Baltimore Ravens, the QB was seen using a massage gun on his calf. Sources confirmed that the player tweaked the calf during the game.
Burrow sustained an injury this offseason while practicing in training. The 26-year-old QB was out of the field for the entire summer. He did not take part in the pre-season games and did not train with the team as well. However, he announced himself fit and played the Bengals’ season opener. His performance was below par and as a result, the team lost that game. In the post-match presentation, the player took responsibility for the loss and said his lack of training with the team cost the Bengals.
It is now evident that Burrow’s absence in the preseason and training due to the calf injury is causing a genuine problem for the Bengals. Burrow was not impressive against the Ravens as well. He covered 222 yards and had a 27-of-41 passing record. The Bengals signal caller made 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens, had a better impact than him by finishing 237 yards with a 24-of-33 passing record and two touchdowns.
The chemistry between Burrow and his teammates has not shined in the past two matches, largely due to the former’s absence in preseason games and training camps. The Bengals need to find a solution for this, otherwise, it will be very difficult to have a good season.
However, Tee Higgins, who had a decent game against the Ravens, is not losing hope. The player stated, “Obviously no one likes it, but we’ve been here before. It’s just all about bouncing back and going and winning one next week.” Higgins is also not concerned with Burrow’s injury, despite seeing him limping as he believes that the QB will be properly fit in some days.
“He’ll be alright, I think he’ll be okay. I seen him limping but I asked him he said it was nothing. We’ve seen him push through injuries multiple times,” he added. (H/T: SI)

It’s back to square one for Joe Burrow’s Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have found themselves in the same position that they were in last year. They got 0-2 down last season but almost did a miracle by winning 12 of their last 14 games to qualify for the playoffs. This season, they need to provide the same magic as they are already 2 down and need to come back from there.

They have a very important match against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday and that is a must-win for them. If they lose, recovering from that is a near-impossible task.
To win against the Rams, the team needs to find the proper solution to what they have been lagging. The management needs to retrospect whether Burrow has a serious injury. If yes, they need to find a backup solution for him at the earliest.
