The New England Patriots’ horrible season will come to an end on Sunday against the New York Jets. It might also be their legendary HC Bill Belichick‘s final game for the Patriots. The six-time Super Bowl champion has been under pressure this season and rumors of him getting fired as the team’s head coach have gathered a lot of momentum in recent weeks.
Belichick has been the head coach of the Patriots since 2000. During his 24-year Patriots career, the head coach has established himself as one of the best coaches in the history of the game. He won six Super Bowls with Tom Brady as his quarterback.
However, since Brady’s departure in 2020, Belichick has failed to lead his team to the promised land. The Patriots’ recent seasons haven’t been up to the mark and the pressure on the HC is increasing.
Belichick dodged the question about his future during his recent press conference.
Yeah, I’m focused on getting ready for the Jets--We haven’t played them in a long time, been all season, so I’m going to work on the Jets here and get ready to go.Belichick said when asked about his future with the team
He further continued,
Right now, it’s trying to get the team ready for the Jets, finish up the Buffalo game, continue to coach the team and try to help the players and the team play better.
The Patriots lost their recent game against the Buffalo Bills and will play their final game of the season against the New York Jets on Sunday. It might prove to be Belichick’s final game at the Gillette Stadium.
Bill Belichick talked about ‘terrible first 20 minutes’ against the Bills
The New England Patriots lost their week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills, 27-21. It was their 12th loss of the season as they failed to repeat their October win over the same opponent. Bill Belichick, the team’s head coach, talked about the mistakes his team made during the game.
Just a terrible first 20 minutes--I thought our guys really hung in there, battled away, but obviously just gave them too big of a lead. Just couldn’t quite get it back. Turnovers obviously the big story in the game. Can’t make those kind of mistakes against Buffalo.Belichick said after the game
The Patriots will end their season at home against the New York Jets next Sunday. It could prove to be Belichick’s final game as a Patriots head coach as there are rumors of him getting fired after the season. Belichick and the Patriots will hope to end their horrendous season on a positive note against the Jets.
