After a 23-year-long journey, Bill Belichick finally parted ways with the New England Patriots. After back-to-back frustrating seasons with the team, owner Robert Kraft had enough and he fired the HC. Speculations were already there, and it eventually became a reality.
A month after his termination, Belichick addressed the Patriots fans on Twitter. He expressed his gratitude for the love and respect that the fans showed over the course of 23 years with the Patriots. The veteran head coach came up with a long letter to express his gratitude.
Belichick wrote:
Nowhere in America are pro sports fans as passionate as in New England and for 24 years, I was blessed to feel your passion and power. The Patriots are the only NFL team representing SIX states but in reality, Patriots Nation knows no borders.Bill Belichick’s letter read
Words fall short of addressing the fanaticism that circles football teams. The fans of the Patriots are no exception. They stood by the ups and downs that the team went through in recent years. Belichick, in his letter, did not fail to mention that.
You were undaunted by weather, attended scorching hot training camp practices and braved Foxborough's coldest, wettest, snowiest and windiest days. Your thoughtful letters offered support, critique, and creative play suggestions. You watched on TV, the internet, and from your stadium seats.Bill Belichick’s letter read
Belichick’s reaction garnered a lot of reactions on social media. The fans loved the way their head coach gave them a tribute. They thanked Belichick with all their heart.
Bill Belichick’s future remains uncertain
Belichick’s future still does not have any address. It is still uncertain. After the termination, he was connected to the Atalanta Falcons and the Washington Commanders. But both of the two teams recently announced the names of their respective coaches. The Commanders went for Dan Quinn and the Falcons announced Raheem Morris’ name.
The veteran might have to go ‘unhired’ in the next season. There are no plans for him to announce his retirement in the next season yet. The veteran’s coaching tactics were also vehemently criticized this season. His recent reputation might be the reason for not getting a call.
It is to be seen whether the HC gets a call from any team for the coming season. As of now, it is fingers crossed for the veteran coach.
