For fans of the New England Patriots, this season was nothing short of a nightmare. The team went 4-13 on the season and ended their season on a 3-17 loss to the New York Jets.
It was quarterback hell for the team as Bailey Zappe threw 2 interceptions and 88 yards. The team has struggled all season long at the QB position but more than that, fans are putting the blame of this failed season on Bill Belichick.
This was in all likelihood Belichick’s final season as the Head Coach and General Manager of the New England Patriots. For the whole season, his future has been a hot topic and reports have surfaced that Robert Kraft would not be interested in bringing him back after the disappointing year that he has had.
The HC left Gillette Stadium after the loss to the Jets in typical Belichick fashion. All covered up in a hoodie, wearing a mask and just walked off the field.
If this was indeed it, what a run it has been for Bill Belichick. With 31 playoff wins in his career, he has the most amongst all-time HCs. The 16 playoff wins he led the Patriots to from 2010-19 are the most by any team in NFL history.
Bill Belichick will go down as the greatest coach of all time
Belichick has won the Super Bowl six times, the most for a HC in the NFL and he is the only coach to ever go 16-0 in the regular season. It was a bittersweet moment for fans of the New England Patriots because while the man who treated the world to the privilege of watching Tom Brady play and the brain behind the most dominant dynasty in NFL history is leaving the game; it was after a slew of seasons wherein his capabilities as a HC and GM have been repeatedly questioned.
Here’s how fans reacted to Belichick’s departure from the field for maybe one last time:
Hell of Coach…..but its time for him to move on.

Bill Belichick's final game in charge of the Patriots. If this is it for Bill, thank you for everything. The greatest coach of all time.

Bill Belichick has been exposed as nothing more than a very good defensive coach. As long as he had Brady … Kraft owes it to his fans to move on.

Would of been nice of him to acknowledge the crowd when he was walking off

Thank you Bill. GOAT coach in football history and gave us the greatest dynasty of all time. And the number 3 pick (at least) on the way out. A legend.

Somewhere, Tom Brady is kicking back and has a wry smile on his face.

I don't know if it's his final time in New England but maybe his last time as the patriots coach, change the wording on the post and make it better.

He went 11-5 with Matt Cassell. I’ve me a break. Now i think maybe the offensive games has passed him by, and it’s time to move on. But those guys were both great for each other. Good pairing that maximized every year

Belichick had a big in Brady’s success in NE, Brady had a big hand too. Don’t try to discredit Belichick now because Brady went to a “loaded Bucs” team that added AB & Gronk, because if it was all Brady why didn’t he win in NE those last few yrs, & why he only got 1 in Tampa?

The Bill Belichick Era will never be forgotten, if this was indeed his last time as the team’s HC, then what an impressive run it has been. While he leaves in the most unfortunate fashion, it will never overshadow his achievements.
