The New England Patriots are in trouble. In what was supposed to be a crucial game for the team, they have fallen to a record of 2-8 this season after their 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany. Going into this game, there were a lot of questions looming around the future of Head Coach Bill Belichick who has been under immense pressure from Robert Kraft to get the team back to winning ways or else be prepared to lose his job.

It was not just Belichick’s job on the line, after tonight’s performance, QB Mac Jones is also in trouble. In his post-game press conference, Belichick justified his benching of Mac Jones for Bailey Zappe by giving a rather casual response:

I just thought it was time for a change.

In the final moments of the game, Belichick decided it was a good call to remove his starting QB and go with Bailey Zappe.

When asked if substituting Zappe for Mac Jones was injury-related, Belichick just brushed it aside and said:

I made a decision, that's what it was.

He further went on to add that moving forward there is no uncertainty about the team’s quarterback situation. Bill Belichick intends to deal with that problem when the team is scheduled to play their next game.

Bill Belichick appears to be done with Mac Jones

Here’s where Belichick’s utter lack of faith in Mac Jones can be inferred. When asked if he had faith in Mac Jones despite his performance tonight, the Head Coach just said:

I have faith in all my players.

He did not even address Jones by his name.

That was a rather evasive answer and was extremely generic in nature. It does not seem like Belichick has faith any longer in Mac Jones. Why would a Head Coach take a player he believes in out of the game in the most crucial moments? Not to mention that Belichick decided the Patriots were better off not going for a 60-yard Hail Mary attempt before halftime.

Belichick is unsure about the Patriots quarterback situation. Mac Jones has not been consistent and tonight, he did not play well at all. The final drive of the game with Bailey Zappe faking a snap and throwing the ball for it to be intercepted was a disappointing end to an already long night for the fans watching this game all around the world.
