The New England Patriots, led by their young quarterback Mac Jones, suffered a brutal loss against the Las Vegas Raiders in their week 6 matchup on Sunday. Once again, Jones had an abysmal outing in his third season in the league, which led to the Patriots’ 5th loss of the season. During the game, the Pats head coach Bill Belichick could be losing his cool on the sidelines.

During the final few minutes of the game, the Patriots were trailing by just 2 points and were facing a 3rd down 15 from their own 4-yard line. The Pats signal-caller Jones dropped back to attempt a pass but was almost immediately brought down by the Raiders pass rushers Maxx Crosby and Bilal Nichols, leading to a safety.

The Patriots then tried an onside punt which was fairly caught by the Raiders wideout Hunter Renfrow. And then, the Raiders’ second-string QB Brian Hoyer went into victory formation and took a knee to run the clock out.

As a result, the Raiders ended up securing a 21-17 victory against the New England-based football team and improved to a flat 3-3 record. On the other side, Mac Jones and the Patriots suffered their 5th loss of the season and fell to an abysmal 1-5 record.

Bill Belichick might move on from Mac Jones soon

The former 1st-round draft pick Mac Jones hasn’t been having a great season as the New England quarterback in his third year in the league. So, the Pats HC and general manager Bill Belichick might end up moving on from the former Alabama quarterback soon.

In the 2023 season so far, Jones has registered 1,208 passing yards and 5 passing touchdowns while throwing 7 interceptions. He has been benched twice in the season within just 6 weeks.

Furthermore, general manager Belichick also made a strange move of signing the practice squad QB Malik Cunningham to a 3-year deal according to reports. This move shows Belichick trusts Cunningham enough to offer him a multi-year deal.

Now, if Jones continues to play poorly, Belichick could move on from him and possibly start rookie Malik Cunningham in this season itself. As of now, Jones remains the starting QB of the team and he will look to have a good outing against the Buffalo Bills, who the Patriots are scheduled to face on Sunday in their week 7 matchup.
