If Patriots decided to let go of Bill Belichick, Josh Harris would get a wide-open opportunity to pursue the legendary coach.

It wasn’t too long back when the rumors surrounding the departure of New England Patriots‘ legendary head coach began, and now it seems he already has a prospect in line for next season. Since Josh Harris acquired Washington Commanders, he seemed to be on a path of decluttering. And with the head coach’s position vacant, who better to pursue than the coach who led the Patriots to win all six of their Super Bowl rings?

According to the NFL sources, Harris has been loving the idea of having Bill Belichick coach his team. Though it all depends on the 71-year-old coach, if he wants to coach the Commanders, a de facto trade could possibly take place, as a replacement for Ron Rivera.

Considering New England’s 4-13 record this season, a clean break may possibly be the key to their future Super Bowl aspirations. If that happens, and the franchise lets go of Belichick, Harris would get a wide-open opportunity to pursue the legendary coach.

However, whether Harris would give Belichick full control over personnel, is still a question if the coach agrees to join. One thing that can majorly influence his decision to join the Commanders could be because it’s close to his hometown of Annapolis, Maryland.

But here’s a catch, there have also been rumors of the Dallas Cowboys pursuing the 71-year-old head coach, and if that’s true and Mike McCarthy leaves the team, Belichick would be more inclined towards joining a team that already has a winning record.

Atlanta Falcons seemingly interested in pursuing coach Bill Belichick upon a loss to Saints

Apparently, these aren’t the only teams interested in Belichick, as the Atlanta Falcons might also join the prospect line if they lose to the New Orleans Saints in week 18 and he becomes available as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Given that, the Falcons’ current head coach Arthur Smith with the record of 21-29 with the franchise, seemed to have his job on the line and would need a spectacular win to save it.

It isn’t that appealing for the Falcons to compete with Belichick for a division when they couldn’t do it with Denis Allen. On the other hand, there is Belichick, who hasn’t been able to find a worthy successor to Tom Brady to lead the Patriots. But there’s a possibility that he could do that in the Falcons if he joins and the franchise seems to be holding on to that possibility.
