Tom Brady had an illustrious career in the NFL, but this last year hasn’t been very kind to the 23-year veteran QB. After joining the Buccaneers in the 2020 off-season, Brady surprised everyone by actually winning the Super Bowl in his first year with his new team. He and the Bucs beat the powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 to register his 7th Super Bowl victory.
And in the next season, the Buccaneers managed to win the NFC South and the second seed in the NFC but faced defeat against the eventual Super Bowl champions LA Rams in the divisional round. After two back-to-back tremendous seasons, Brady and the Bucs geared up for the 2022 season in hopes of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy one more time. However, they never managed to find their feet after losing their HC Bruce Arians, and Brady’s favorite target TE Rob Gronkowski to retirement.
The injury-riddled Buccaneers led by a 45-year-old quarterback somehow managed to clinch the NFC South division with an abysmal record of 8-and-9. They never managed to reach their full potential and in the playoffs, they were exposed for being a fraudulent football team. The Cowboys humiliated the Bucs in the wildcard game on Monday and handed Tom Brady his first loss against the Dallas-based franchise. The 15-time Pro Bowler looked awful in the playoff matchup and at one point even played like he gave up on the game.
After the game, many people started to speculate about Brady’s future in the league after he hinted at retirement during his post-game interview. Furthermore, Buffalo Bills DB Jordan Poyer suggested Brady just quit the game and go home to his kids.
Jordan Poyer suggests Tom Brady to retire
Speaking on a recent episode on THE JORDAN POYER podcast, Poyer said that even though he loves Tom Brady, he thinks it’s time for Brady to call it quits and enjoy his life after retirement with his kids.
“Tom, you know I love you and I feel like I’ve been riding for you all year,” said Poyer before pulling up an old clip where he talks about how people should never count out Tom Brady just because he’s slightly struggling.
Jordan Poyer then went on to say that Brady has already achieved a lot in the league and there’s nothing more for him to prove here. “You did everything you could’ve did in this league, I understand you love this game, go be with your kids, man,” added Poyer about Brady. “I didn’t like watching that game (against the Cowboys), you know, it was hard to watch, you know, you’re down 27-0 at halftime, you know he was defeated, you could see he was defeated.”
He also made sure to mention that he has picked off Brady two times before advising him to hang up the cleats. “I got two picks off of you (Brady), one to the crib, lost both games, I’m 0-and-11 against you, yes… please go. Go be with your kids, Tom,” said Poyer on his podcast.
On the business side of things, Jordan Poyer will look to lock down the dynamic duo of Tee Higgins and Ja’Mmar Chase when the Bills host the defending AFC Champions Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round this weekend.
