“I am the reason we lost!” Bills QB Josh Allen takes all the blame for opening day loss against the Jets on himself

The Buffalo Bills are Super Bowl contenders this season. They have everything in place. An uber-talented QB in Josh Allen, a great no. 1 receiver in Stefon Diggs, and most importantly, head coach continuity with HC Sean McDermott. They were expected to beat the New York Jets in their first game of the season. That didn’t quite happen as the Bills lost in overtime after a disastrous performance from Allen.
Allen had four turnovers during the game, 3 interceptions and a fumble in what was one of the worst games of his career. He was expected to blow the doors off of the Jets’ defense, especially after the injury to Jets QB Aaron Rodgers. What could’ve been the best possible start for the Bills, turned into a nightmare as Allen struggled throughout the game. After the game, Allen took full responsibility for the loss.
“Trying to force the ball,” Allen said after the game. “Same s–t, same place, different day. … It’s a good defense we played, but we can’t play two guys. Can’t play them and us. And I played us tonight.” Allen had a similar outing against the Jets last year when the Bills visited the MetLife Stadium.
He further continued by saying, “I hurt our team tonight. I cost our team tonight, This feels eerily similar to last year, and I hate that it’s the same, I do … The effort was there. Our guys played so hard. Defense gave us opportunities. They played a heck of a game. It sucks when you feel like you’re the reason, and I am the reason we lost tonight.”
The Bills will hope to bounce back as soon as possible as they will welcome the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday. Allen will have to play better than this if the Bills want to get anywhere near that Lombardi Trophy in February next year.

Sean McDermott says Josh Allen is aware of his turnover issues

After a disastrous MNF performance against the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen took full accountability for the loss. He admitted he was at fault for the team’s loss as he three for three interceptions and had a fumble. Bills’ HC Sean McDermott, after the game, said that Allen is aware of his turnover issues.
“He knows, he knows he can play better,” McDermott said in his postgame interview. “I know he’s capable of playing better. He’s capable of playing smarter as well, and he’s got to do that for us, to number one stay healthy and then number two, to take care of the football. He’s more than capable of doing that.”
The Bills were expected to play in the postseason this year. They have been a great team for the past few years and have been in the playoffs almost every year since 2018. Now, after a poor start to the season, it will be interesting to see how Allen and the Bills bounce back in the upcoming games.
