Bobby Wagner is one of the best off-the-ball linebackers in the NFL currently. The six-foot linebacker signed a 5-year $50 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams in the 2022 off-season and played very well in the 2022 season. However, the Rams, who are approximately $13.7 over the salary cap, have decided to part ways with Wagner on Thursday.
Bobby Wagner was part of the ‘Legion of Boom’ defense which terrorized the league for years and was one of the vital pieces of the Seattle Seahawks‘ defense. But, the Seattle-based football team decided to move on from him last season due to injuries. And last season, Wagner had one of the best seasons of his career as he registered a career-high 6 sacks and two interceptions after signing with the Rams.
However, the Rams, who won the previous year’s Super Bowl by pushing all the chips in the middle, have to pay the price for that Lombardi Trophy now. The Los Angeles-based franchise is now in rebuild mode so they are making some tough moves.
The Rams are even attempting to trade their star cornerback Jalen Ramsey away in hopes of getting something in return for him. And now, after parting ways with the 8-time Pro Bowl linebacker, the franchise will look to rebuild its team with a young core. Not to be mistaken, Bobby Wagner is still one of the best defensive players in the league and will add tremendous value to any team in the league.
NFL fans want Bobby Wagner to sign with their favorite team
The Rams decided to part ways with the six-time All-Pro just to get some cap space to start their rebuild. And according to reports, Wagner agreed to part ways with the Rams in hopes of signing with a Super Bowl contender in the upcoming season.
NFL fans on social media were surprised by the Rams’ decision to part ways with the former Super Bowl champion Bobby Wagner despite his good outing during his first year with his new team. Furthermore, the fans of multiple teams are demanding their respective teams to jump on the opportunity and sign Wagner, who will immediately make any team a better defensive unit.
The Seahawks legend will certainly be a well-sought-after linebacker alongside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Lavonte David. However, Wagner only wants to sign for a team with a shot at winning the Super Bowl in near future. There are only a few teams in the league that fit the bill for Bobby Wagner and any of those teams will certainly be more than happy to rope Wagner in with their franchise.
