Rob Gronkowski is a highly reputed name in the NFL circuit, courtesy of his exploits with the New England Patriots and then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gronkowski is a tight end by profession and announced his retirement from the sport in 2021, after winning the Super Bowl with the Buccaneers.
Apart from being one of the key members of the New England Patriots team during their successful Super Bowl era last decade, he is also a man of many talents. Before deciding to play football professionally, the 33-year-old also played junior hockey for a long time.
Although he didn’t continue playing the sport, many claims that he was an extremely good player who could very well has made a profession out of it. The four-time Super Bowl winner is a huge fan of the National Hockey League, and recently stated his love for a particular franchise ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Rob Gronkowski wishes the Tampa Bay Lightning team through a video message on Twitter
In a Twitter video released by the official account of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Rob Gronkowski cheered them on wishing them the best of luck in the upcoming game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, in the cup playoffs.
“What’s up Bolts Nation? It’s Rob Gronkowski and I’m wishing the Bolts luck here in Tampa Bay, baby, Let’s go. You guys got this. Go Bolts. Woo,” Rob Gronkowski said, addressing the Lighting fans.
The tie is evenly poised heading into Game-3, with the series tied 1-1 following the Leafs’ 7-2 win on ice in the latest game. However, Gronkowski’s fandom and love for the Bolts has riled up another set of fans from the NHL, who feel betrayed at the tight end’s allegiances.
The particular set of fans belong to the Boston Bruins, who did not enjoy it one bit, that Gronkowski having played in New England for 9 seasons, did not throw his weight around the team from that region. Fans reacted to Gronkowski’s message for the Bolts, by claiming that he has potentially been paid to make such statements, while many could not wrap their heads around why Gronkowski would end up cheering for the Bolts.
