Brandin Cooks was a reliable WR for the Houston Texans. The 29-year-old WR was drafted by the Saints in 2014 and ever since then has been a reliable option in the offense.

The Cowboys were in a dire need of a quality WR and have finally found the missing piece in their puzzle by acquiring Cooks on a deal that has both parties excited. The Dallas-based team acquired the former Texans WR by trading a fifth-round draft pick in 2023 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2024. It is reported that this deal permanently closes the door to all the speculation regarding Odell Beckham Jr. joining the Cowboys.

Cooks has been extremely excited at the opportunity to join the Cowboys and is looking forward to spending his time in Dallas. The 29-year-old WR believes that the Cowboys have something special going on and he should contribute to that.

“Man, honestly, I just feel blessed for this opportunity to contribute to something that’s already special. For the Jones family to believe in me, I look forward to joining something special and I bring that mindset everywhere I go,” Brandin Cooks stated to KPRC 2 Houston.

Cooks also thanked Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for the opportunity and maybe the journeyman WR has finally found a permanent place to play at. The Texans and the Cowboys were engaged in negotiations for the WR last season but it didn’t come to fruition. However, this time, the deal is in place.

The Cowboys seriously lacked resources in their WR department and used to always fall short. However, the change has finally arrived for the Cowboys as WR Brandin Cooks will offer a lot to their offense.

And for that service, Cooks will reportedly earn $18 million in 2023 guaranteed. Although, the breakdown of the money will be different as the Cowboys will pay $12 million and the Texans will chip in another $6 million.

Brandin Cooks will add the much-needed pace to the Cowboys’ offense and will form a great partnership with QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys look deadly going into the next season and will hope to finally make it past the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. The Dallas-based team has the resources to make that happen, and it’s about time that they do.
