The Pittsburgh Steelers are loading up. First, with Russell Wilson, then Justin Fields, and both within the amount of $2.8 million, as they aim straight for their seventh Super Bowl trophy and become the first team in history with 7 Vince Lombardi trophies.

Now that the quarterback situation is resolved and the franchise has $15.6 million in cap space, they seem to be moving on to the next important offensive part– receiver. Rumors have it the Steelers are targeting the former 49ers’ star receiver, Brandon Aiyuk to solidify the offense for next season.

Believing the words of Stephen A. Smith, the Steelers are preparing to dominate the AFC division, and seeing their offseason moves, it sure seems right. Aiyuk’s rumors begin with a cryptic X post shared by the star wide receiver, on Tuesday. It was basically a response to a viral joke involving the Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin, whom Aiyuk also tagged in his post.

Recently, a picture has been swirling across the internet where Tomlin and Aiyuk have been compared based on their physical appearance. With fans having their fan, the wide-out himself got involved, and based on his tweet, it seems to do something with his potential trade deal this offseason.

This is the receiver’s first tweet since April 2023. Given his recent frustration with the 49ers after the Super Bowl game, it seems the Steelers could be a potential landing spot for him, where he could lead as a starter.

Brandon Aiyuk eyes lucrative extension or potential Steelers trade

As per Spotrac, the 49ers receiver is set to make $14.1 million from the fifth-year option for his rookie four-year contract deal with the Niners. His market value for next season is estimated to be around $24 million if he goes for a contract extension.

On the contrary, if he gets traded to the Steelers, Pittsburgh can fit in the fifth-year option. But they may also cook up a new contract deal to create salary cap space for the 2024 NFL Draft

Bringing in Aiyuk to pair with George Pickens would create a solid offensive line for the Steelers next season. It will also give the starting quarterback two reliable pass catchers and overpower the opposing defense, something they lacked last season.
