“I know what I’ve done here for 3 years,” Brandon Staley still confident about keeping his job as Chargers HC after suffering disastrous 21-63 loss against Raiders

In the first game without Justin Herbert, the Los Angeles Chargers ended up on the wrong side of a 63-point thumping by the Las Vegas Raiders. Yet the Chargers head coach, Brandon Staley, believes that his job is not in jeopardy.
To make matters worse, they lost against a side that has only put up more than 20 points just twice all season before Thursday night. That too, after the weekend in which they failed to even trouble the scoreboard the entire game. Staley’s future is in contention, whether he accepts it or not.
In his time with the franchise, he has had exactly 24 wins and 24 losses in regular-season games. While to the naked eye, that might appear to be. 500, which is decent, but on most occasions, it’s the recent results that carry most of the weight when owners choose to fire the head coach. Just look at what Raiders Mark Davis did just a month ago.
Considering there’ve already been a few sacks throughout this season, it won’t surprise many that Staley’s also been sent packing. According to Richard Sherman, who was part of Amazon Prime’s panel of analysts covering Thursday night’s clash at Allegiant Stadium, Staley should have been fired at halftime when they were losing 0-42.
However, the 41-year-old isn’t too bothered by the outside chatter. After the 63-21 blowout by the Raiders, Staley faced the media and said,
I know what I’ve done here for three years. I know where we’re capable of going, and I believe in myself.
Will the Los Angeles Chargers replace Brandon Staley this season?
That will be the biggest question on every Californian’s mind, especially their biggest fan. However, the situation is that the Chargers rarely get rid of their head coach in the middle of the season. In fact, one has to roll back time to 1998, when they fired Kevin Gilbride for June Jones. The Chargers were not even in LA at that point; they were still based in San Diego.
Now the question is: will owner Dean Spanos break the tradition and fire Brandon Staley for the 5–9 season, or will he let him finish the regular season? His predecessor, Anthony Lynn, was given the same opportunity, and he won his final four games to end the season 7-9 (16-game season).
According to NFL insiders, there are already a few shortlisted for the post. One of them is Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who himself is in a precarious position of losing his job after managing the Boston franchise for more than two decades. If he does switch to Foxborough for SoFi next season, the veteran head coach will have a stacked defense as well as a young and promising QB, which he lacks in New England.
