The former Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre and his attorneys double down on their defamation lawsuit against the former Indianapolis Colts Pat McAfee over the Mississippi welfare scandal allegations.
In February, the Packers icon Brett Favre filed a defamation lawsuit against Pat McAfee, the former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe and auditor Shad White. This came after they reported that Favre intentionally stole money from the poor people of Mississippi and used it to build a new indoor volleyball facility for his alma mater, Southern Miss.
Favre claimed that McAfee used the Hall of Fame QB’s name to further his social media interactions and painted him in the worst possible way. Following the lawsuit, McAfee revealed in his show that Favre sent him a list of demands, including a public apology. However, instead of giving in to the former Packers signal-callers demands, McAfee decided to face the lawsuit in court.
“A lot of people are wondering how my lawyers are gonna handle this,” McAfee said of the lawsuit at the time in his show. “You know it, I ain’t got ’em. So let’s ride this f**ker. I’m excited to see how it goes. I’ll see you in court pal.”

Brett Favre files a lawsuit against Pat McAfee
After Brett Favre filed his initial lawsuit against Pat McAfee, the American media personality filed a motion last month to dismiss Favre’s lawsuit because it failed to correctly claim that McAfee acted with actual malice.
According to multiple reports, the Super Bowl-winning QB responded on Saturday by filing an amended complaint to beef up actual malice allegations against the former Pro Bowl punter. In total, the rectified complaint against the former Colts punter has 12 new claims regarding the crucial issue of causing actual malice.
“McAfee knew that — or had a high degree of awareness of the fact that — he had no basis for his false statements that Favre had stolen money from poor people,” reads the amended lawsuit. “No media report or anything or anyone else had stated that Favre had stolen any money from anyone. In fact, many of those same reports stated that criminal charges had been brought against certain of the defendants—but not against Favre.”
Brett Favre has denied any intentional wrongdoings from the beginning and repaid the $1.1 million he accepted for speaking engagements he never showed up for. He did not face any criminal charges in the Mississippi scandal, but he is among more than 30 people the state is suing in their attempt to recover the missing funds.
