“SCANDAL”: Brett Favre questioned by FBI over MISUSE of over $1 million of Mississippi state welfare funds

Brett Favre
Brett Favre has reportedly been questioned by the FBI in a scandal in which he is alleged to have misappropriated welfare funds in the State of Mississippi. The State gave Favre nearly $1.1 million for the years 2017 and 2018 for delivering speeches but there was just one small problem. Favre never gave a single speech and yet the money was drawn from the federal welfare funds.
The State of Mississippi was infuriated by this and the Auditor of the State compelled Brett Favre to return the $1 million that he took from the State and defaulted on his end of the deal and also pay an additional $228,000 in the form of interest. The quarterback has returned the $1.1 million that he took but he is yet to make the interest payment on the total welfare amount.

Brett Favre reportedly took $1.1 million in 2017 and 2018 from the State of Mississippi to deliver speeches he never gave:

Brett Favre’s attorney Bud Holmes told NBC News that the quarterback was being questioned by the FBI in the State Welfare Fund case and that Favre had denied any wrongdoing as he was unaware that the money that he was paid had been meant to be allotted amongst disadvantaged families by providing better amenities. The good thing is that Favre has not been accused of committing any crimes in the case.
Brett Favre reportedly took advantage of his contacts with the State to lobby for a multi-million dollar grant for a drug company, he personally had a lot to gain from this deal as he was the majority stakeholder in the drug company. In addition to this, Favre helped swerve things in favor of a new volleyball arena at the University of Southern Mississippi that set the State back by $5 million. Text messages relating to the scandal have surfaced, these messages reveal that the former Green Bay Packers quarterback asks an official from the drug company that he has a significant financial interest in if he needs to talk to the Governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, and offer him shares in exchange for grants, the former Governor has unequivocally denied all these allegations.
Favre has also denied accepting any money for no-show appearances, in a Tweet last year, the quarterback said “As I have said before, I would never accept money for no-show appearances, as the state of Mississippi auditor, Shad White claims. I am doing all that I can to support this investigation to make things right for the people of Mississippi and I have shared all that I know, which is that I was paid for three years of commercials that I did, and I paid taxes on the money, as I should.“
“Of course, the money was returned because I would never knowingly take funds meant to help our neighbors in need, but for Shad White to continue to push out this lie that the money was for no-show events is something I cannot stay silent about. Despite all efforts to seek clarification with the auditor, he has never granted a callback or a meeting with me but has instead only repeatedly run to the media. Prioritizing sensational headlines over seeking the truth is doing a disservice to the people of our great state who deserve answers and a resolution,” Favre was furious and gave a fitting response to the auditor of the state.
The State of Mississippi has had a total of $70 million in its federal welfare funds misappropriated by the state. The former head of the welfare has pled not guilty to bribery and conspiracy charges. There are other football players involved in this scandal as well, former running back for Oklahoma and Mississippi native Marcus Dupree was paid $370,000 under the welfare fund and Ted DiBiase, the former wrestler also took $3 million from the fund. The reason that the State of Mississippi is being audited is due to its poverty rate, it is the poorest state in the entire United States of America.
