Now, as reported by Fox News, the Mississippi Department of Human Services has decided to sue Brett and 37 more people or companies for misspending funds that were supposed to be utilized for the welfare of poor families. The aim of the lawsuit is to recover around $20 million from Favre and others named in the case.

Attorney Brad Pigott is the one who wrote the lawsuit. In an interaction with Mississippi Today about the scandal, he claimed, “I do not understand these people. What kind of person would decide that money the law required to be spent helping the poorest people in the poorest state would be better spent being doled out by them to their own families, their own pet projects, and their own favorite celebrities?

While Favre has been accused of charging money and not showing up to deliver speeches, Brett, in his defense has stated that he had no idea that the money was coming from welfare funds. Moreover, he stated that he has actually spent millions to help poverty-stricken families in Mississippi.
