Pop star Taylor Swift and her relationship with Travis Kelce remained one of the biggest highlights of the 2023-24 NFL season. The coverage time given to the couple has irked a lot of fans who accused them of ruining football. Taylor Swift has remained unapologetic over these haters and critics. However, other celebrities have chimed in to support the couple. David Letterman and Charles Barkley became the latest to show support for Swift.

Charles Barkley ripped into fans for relentlessly criticizing the couple. Brittany Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes‘s wife, took notice of Barkley’s comments. She posted Barkley’s comments on her story and had a short but straightforward caption for it. She captioned her story with three words. This is what she wrote:

Barkley called haters ‘losers’ for constantly complaining about Taylor Swift. One cannot understate the impact that Swift has had on the NFL. This season has certainly benefited from Swift’s presence. She will attend the Super Bowl game to support her boyfriend and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brittany Mahomes was in agreement with Barkley as she believed the pop star was receiving unnecessary hate for absolutely no reason. Over this season, the two have grown close and are best friends now.

Charles Barkley defended Taylor Swift because the fans missed the most important aspect. She was encouraging her own fanbase to broaden their scope of interests and consider trying something new, such as watching football. She brought millions of fans with her and greatly helped the NFL’s viewership this season.

Because of her presence at Arrowhead Stadium and other important Chiefs games, ticket sales for those respective teams also increased significantly. The average cost for airtime during an NFL game ranges from $350,000 to $700,000 for 30 seconds. Taylor Swift is so influential that the league has featured her on air for free on three separate occasions during Chiefs broadcasts for over 30 seconds.

The NFL ratings and viewership witnessed a surge this season, and Super Bowl LVIII could beat the all-time viewership record as well. Why? Swifties want to see how their queen will react if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl and, more importantly, if Travis Kelce will pop the question to the pop star if his team wins.

Football is not a cult; the sport has always continued to be open and welcomed newer fans interested in learning more about the game. Because of this factor alone, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has an impact unlike anything ever before.
