Brock Purdy‘s fairytale run is seemingly over as the former last overall pick puts up a disaster-class performance in the San Francisco 49ers‘ week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, Purdy and the Niners suffered a brutal last-minute loss against the Minnesota-based football team on Monday.

In the game, Brock Purdy completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts for 272 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown. But his 2 interceptions proved to be costly and resulted in a Niners loss. Especially, Purdy’s second interception came at an unlikely time and ended the game in Minnesota’s favor.

During the final few seconds of the 4th quarter, the 49ers were trailing by 5 points and were facing a crucial 2nd and 10 from Minnesota’s 40-yard line. With no timeouts, Purdy decided to take a shot at the center of the field and targeted Ray-Ray McCloud III. But the Vikings defensive back Camryn Bynum jumped in and picked off Brock Purdy’s pass.

The Vikings then took victory formation and proceeded to run out the clock by taking a knee. In the end, the 49ers suffered their second-straight loss and fell to a 5-2 record. Purdy — who didn’t throw a single interception in the earlier weeks — has now thrown 3 interceptions in the last two games.

The 49ers certainly missed two of their best players, offensive tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who were both ruled out of the game because of an injury. Their star running back Christian McCaffrey was also playing through an injury but he managed to have a solid game as he registered multiple touchdowns. Still, he couldn’t help the Niners outscore the Vikings on Monday night.

Following the 49ers’ loss against the Vikings in a tough road game, Brock Purdy was bashed on social media by many NFL fans. Purdy’s last-minute interception cost the Niners the game, prompting fans to troll him online.

Nonetheless, the Niners have suffered two losses within 7 weeks, affecting their playoff seedings later in this ongoing season. They will look to win as many games as possible the rest of the season, starting with the Cincinnati Bengals, who they will be facing in their week 8 matchup this weekend.
