“Shannon Sharpe was right about him!” – Brock Purdy BASHED on social media for his ‘mediocre’ performance as he faced career’s first regular season loss against the Browns

Brocky Purdy went from being in NFL MVP talks to a virtual spectator within a span of a few days. Purdy’s San Francisco 49ers entered the dawg pound aiming to repeat last season’s washout against the Cleveland Browns. But backup quarterback Phillip Walker had other ideas.
Thrown into the mix after QB 1 Deshaun Watson was unavailable due to injury, Walker sought the help of Jacoby Brissett (now at Tampa), who was Watson’s backup last season. He advised the former XFL stalwart to keep finding Amari Cooper, which he did on most occasions. Walker ended the day with 194 yards from 18 successful conversations. It was far from anything spectacular considering he also threw two interceptions, but his first outing in a while was enough to break the 49ers’ 5-game winning streak.
Walker had help, of course, from the Browns defense, which disrupted the 49ers West Coast offense. Brock Purdy had been near perfect all season with a 121.1 passer rating. On top of that, he hadn’t thrown any interceptions at that time. But the call came crumbling down when P.J. Walker picked off a stray pass from the 23-year-old.
Without the primary target men, Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey, it was getting increasingly hard for the 49ers offense to break free. Most of their third downs were going astray; not only that, but kicker Jake Moody missed his first field goal of the year. That kind of sorry luck rubbed on their signal caller.
Purdy finished the game with arguably his worst-ever stat as a starting QB in the NFL. He completed just 12 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. In the wake of the subpar performance by the IOWA product, social media dug out a video of Shannon Sharpe in which he refused to call Purdy an elite quarterback.
Social Media believes that Shannon Sharpe’s assessment of Brock Purdy was correct
“He [Brock Purdy] is not an elite quarterback,” the Super Bowl winner turned football analyst said in a recent segment of ESPN‘s Get Up. “It’s more credit to Kyle Shanahan and what he has done.”
This defeat means the Brock Purdy 10-game winning streak in the NFL came to an end. Still, the 49ers are one of the top teams in not just the NFC but as a whole. They will be on the road once again next week to face the Minnesota Vikings.
