It was indeed literal chaos and panic in the stadium for 49ers fans as their favorite team was a 17-point deficit by halftime. However, interestingly, inside the locker room, there was not a drop of sweat.
Last night’s game was truly a rollercoaster for the San Francisco 49ers fans, as until halftime, it didn’t appear like the top-seeded NFC team. Quarterback Brock Purdy was hardly pushing the ball while the offense couldn’t score past 7, giving the opponents Detroit Lions a lead of 24 points.
Despite tension brawling over the Niners, the players remained calm, and that’s probably why they were able to make the most epic comeback.
For all the Lions knew, it was an end for the 49ers, with their magical season going down the drain. But as the second half began, the positions of the Lions and 49ers reversed.
Before that, when the 49ers players went to their locker room during recess, everyone thought there must have been panic, and head coach Kyle Shanahan and Purdy were sure in the run for a new strategy. However, surprisingly, nothing that sort of happened!
Quarterback Purdy revealed that he and his teammates remained absolutely calm in the locker room, despite trailing 24-7 at halftime of the game that would decide their status for the Super Bowl.
No one was freaking out. It’s football, there’s a lot of experienced guys on this team, veterans who have been in crazy situations, so everyone was like, ‘We’ve just got to do our job, straight up.Purdy said post his epic 34-31 victory.
That’s not all; he further confirmed that his team went by the same strategy and everyone knew what they had to do to make it work. So, they kept it simple, and his whole team stepped up and proved why they dominated the NFC.
How Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes compare ahead of Super Bowl LVIII
It’s finally official that the 49ers’ Purdy and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes are set to face off against each other in the Super Bowl.
The last time the two were up against one another was in 2022, with Jimmy Garoppolo as the Niners’ starting QB.
Although Mahomes defeated him, it doesn’t really count this time as the current starting QB of the 49ers is Purdy. Mahomes completed the game with 423 yards and three touchdowns, leading to a dominating 43-23 victory.
And even though Purdy filled in for Garoppolo late in the game, he could only log four out of his total nine passes, along with an interception.
