Well, who knew the San Francisco 49ers’ emerging star would have a connection to NCAA women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark? 

But they do and it appears to be quite a close one. Brock Purdy knows the 22-year-old WNBA-bound star through her older brother, who was his college football teammate at Iowa State.

At Iowa State, the 24-year-old quarterback had quite elaborate stats, as in the four years that he spent there, he recorded the highest number of wins by any quarterback in the history of college football—a 32-17 record.

He also led the team to four back-to-back straight bowls and remains a leader in passer rating with 12,170, completions with 993 touchdown passes with 81, and completion percentage with 67.7 percent.

Interestingly, his backup quarterback was none other than Clark’s older brother, Blake Clark. Not only did the two share the same locker room, but they also shared a profound bond. This brings us to the present: Blake Clark is invited to Purdy’s wedding with his longtime girlfriend, Jenna Brandt. 

Although the date of the big day is yet to be revealed to the media, the 49ers quarterback himself confirmed the news in a conversation with internet star Austin Franklin ahead of the Super Bowl LVIII game. 

So Blake Clark is a great friend of mine, he's going to be at my wedding. He's the man, yeah I love him, he was one of my best friends for four years at Iowa State.

Purdy revealed his connection with Caitlin and her brother before she broke the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record.

After scoring a remarkable 49 points against the Michigan Wolverines, Caitlin now leads with 3,569 points. Such astonishing numbers make her the top prospect for the 2024 WNBA draft.

While talking about her, Purdy also shared that he is inspired by Caitlin. 

The competitive nature that she has. When you watch it, it makes you want to play, it makes you want to play your sport well.
He said.

He also said that when he sees her getting teammates get fired up, it inspires him to do the same at the Niners. 

He also showered high praise on Caitlin, sharing that since high school, everyone, including the quarterback, knew that she was going to be a ‘game-changer.’ And now that she is following her passion and truly ‘killing it’ out there, he feels extremely proud of her.
