There’s always that one teacher who leaves a massive impression while growing up. Brock Purdy is no exception. To show his appreciation, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback recently dropped by his junior high and relived some of his old memories with his teachers.

Purdy studied at Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, and played football for the school’s team. One of his favorite classes was English, taught by Katie Chambra. A video surfaced showing the 24-year-old knocking on a door, and beside it was the nameplate addressed to Ms. Chambra’s English class.

Purdy appeared giddy as he knocked on the door. Moments later, possibly a student opened the door. Chambra recognized that her former student had come to greet her before jetting off to Vegas and playing in the Super Bowl.

Brock Purdy’s teachers spoke highly of the 49ers quarterback

Even before winning the NFC title game and making it to the Super Bowl, he was anointed with the ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ tag for being the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Even before that, he starred for the Iowa State Cyclones for four years. But prior to making his name as a well-known football player, he was learning the art of passing at Perry High.

In an interview with ABC7, the teachers who taught Brock Purdy when he was a student at the quaint Arizona school spoke highly of the Pro Bowler. The English teacher, Ms. Chambra, told ABC7 that he never appeared to be someone who played football.

Sometimes you couldn't tell he played football. He was always focused. He sat in front of the class and focused on his work.

Purdy was winning in school as well. He led the football team, finishing runners-up in the state championship, and won Arizona High School Player of the Year in 2017. But he never let the achievement get to his head.

Tracy Gibson, his economics teacher, revealed,

He was always focused on getting it done. He was friendly with everybody.

Ms. Chambra remembered throwing a 20s party and asked the students to dress accordingly in Purdy’s class. She revealed that Purdy chose to wear a cowboy hat with a loose-fitting tie.

That's just who he is. He doesn't worry about what others say about him.

Being tagged as the ‘game manager‘ and not letting the negatives affect him during game days is proof that Purdy hasn’t changed much from his teen years. He and the 49ers will fight for the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas on Sunday.
