The Cleveland Browns shocked everyone with their backup quarterback for the upcoming season, leaving no chance for Joe Flacco’s return. NFL rumors have it the Browns did not offer any formal deals to return with them for another season. Flacco’s agent later confirmed the news stating Cleveland did not present the quarterback with any contract.

The franchise made it clear that they have no interest in signing free agent Flacco for another season when they signed former first overall pick Jameis Winston in a one-year contract deal worth $8.7 million. When Flacco took over the Browns’ offense in the final six games, fans’ lost hope returned as the 39-year-old led them straight to the playoffs.

He charmed everyone when he stepped up for his team and recorded 4-1 by the end of the regular season. Moreover, Flacco recorded throwing more than 300 yards in three back-to-back games.

What are the potential landing spots for Joe Flacco?

Even though the Bears believe their time with quarterback Flacco has ended, he can still be a reliable asset for other teams across the league. From the free agency market, Flacco has options to be a veteran backup quarterback for the starter or a transitional starter for a young development quarterback.

The top landing spot for Flacco is the Minnesota Vikings as their star Kirk Cousins reportedly signed with the Atlanta Falcons. They are likely to draft a potential quarterback from the upcoming NFL Draft, but given they have a No.11 pick, there’s a highly unlikely chance that they would draft from the top prospects. This means, the Vikings have to settle for a developed quarterback, and who better to back him up than Flacco?

Indianapolis Colts also have a quarterback situation in their hand with Gardner Minshew going to the Raiders and health issues for Anthony Richardson. In that case, having a solid backup such as Flacco would work wonders for them in the upcoming season.
