On Thursday Night Football, the Carolina Panthers led by their rookie quarterback Bryce Young went against the Chicago Bears in their week 10 matchup. Due to the Bears’ starting QB Justin Fields‘ injury, the undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent started the game for them in the 4th straight week.

Despite going against one of the worst teams in the league led by an undrafted rookie quarterback, the Carolina-based franchise still managed to lose the game on Thursday. The 2023 1st overall pick Bryce Young managed to come out of the game without any turnovers, but he didn’t have a good outing against the Chicago-based football team.

In the game, Bryce Young completed only 55.3% of his pass attempts for 185 yards and 0 touchdowns. He had a passer rating of just 68.4 and didn’t help his team outduel the Bears. To be fair to Young, both rookie QBs had a below-average outing and their defense had to carry the game.

Tyson Bagent, who started his 4th game in the NFL on Thursday, completed 60.6% of his pass attempts for just 162 yards and 0 touchdowns. However, many felt that as a first-overall pick, Young failed to live up to his expectations and couldn’t outplay an undrafted rookie quarterback.

In the end, the Bears ended up winning the game 16-13 on the back of a failed game-tying field goal attempt by the Carolina-based football team. With that victory, the Bears improved to a 3-7 record and showed some progress in their game.

On the flip side, the Panthers fell to 1-8 and remain one of the worst teams in the league. In fact, the Panthers currently have the worst record in the ongoing season. If they continue to be the worst team and end up with the No.1 overall pick, Young’s tenure in Carolina could be over before it even starts since the 2024 class is stacked with plenty of good quarterbacks.

Despite being a Heisman Trophy winner, Young came into the 2023 Draft with a lot of question marks because of physical attributes. But the Panthers took a risk and selected him as the first-overall pick. Now, some of the Panthers fans are already regretting their team taking him over C.J. Stroud, who is having a remarkable campaign with the Houston Texans.
