The Buffalo Bills have taken their fans on a rollercoaster ride this season as the team has been inconsistent and unpredictable. The team kicked off their season with a loss against a New York Jets team that lost Aaron Rodgers early in the game. From Week 2 through Week 4, Buffalo dominated as the team did not just beat the Raiders, Commanders, and the Dolphins but wiped the floor with them. However, Week 5 had a twist as the team ended up losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The team as reported by AP, has fired John Roth, the Chief Operating Officer of the Buffalo Bills and the NHL team Buffalo Sabres, and the General Counsel for the Bills, Kathryn D’ Angelo for being in an “unethical” relationship. The Bills and Sabres are owned by Terry Pegula, who made the call to fire his executives over their conduct.

As per AP, John Roth and Kathryn have confirmed that they were dismissed but did not elaborate on the reason for the dismissal. John released this statement, “Both Kathryn and I wish the Pegulas the best of luck and we think the world of Terry, Kim, Laura, and the rest of the team…We will be cheering the Bills and Sabres on from afar.” He does not harbor any hate or anger towards owner Terry Pegula.

The Buffalo Bills have witnessed frequent shakeups in their management

The Athletic stated the reason for their dismissal was due to the nature of the relationship being “unethical” as Kathryn directly reported to John. Roth joined the Buffalo Bills organization earlier in July this year. He met owner Terry Pegula 12 years ago when the duo worked closely together at Fidelity Investments.

Kathryn D’Angelo joined the Bills in 2016 and worked her way up to the role of General Counsel earlier this year. This is not the first time that the team has had to fire its executives over having inappropriate relationships. In 2018, Russ Brandon, the President of the Bills and the Sabres at the time, was fired for having inappropriate ties to an employee.

In the following year, Pegula Sports and Entertainment, the parent company of the Bills and the Sabres let go of more executives such as COO Bruce Popko and Chief Administrative Officer Brent Rossi. The PSE was dissolved earlier this August. The dissolution allows the Buffalo Bills and the Sabres to function as two separate entities with Terry Pegula at the helm of both.
