Von Miller somehow survived the Wednesday purge from the Buffalo Bills. Not only that, they gave a restructured deal to the veteran pass rusher.

News came from Orchard Park that the Bills had let go of several players. From Pro Bowlers Mitch Morse and Tre’Davious White to wide receiver Deonte Harty, running back Nyheim Hines, and safety Jordan Poyer, they were let go.

On the other hand, a few received good news of an extension, including offensive lineman David Edwards, safety Taylor Rapp, and punter Matt Haack.

Miller was one of the fortunate ones that the Bills kept on the roster. He signed a restricted deal, as per ESPN’s Field Yates. The veteran linebacker agreed on $8.855 million for the 2024 campaign. He can earn up to $20 million with incentives, compared to the $17.5 million available on the previous terms.

The bills were already over $40 million over the cap. But with the release of Poyer and White, along with others, and the negotiated deal with Miller, the Bills were able to save approximately $25.96 million in cap space.

Will the Bills mafia witness the return of the old Von Miller next season?

The 34-year-old’s contract restructure comes after a season to forget at the Meadowlands. After undergoing surgery on his knee, he had to sit out the entire offseason and only made his first start on October 8. Miller wasn’t the same after the injury; the once revered pass rusher was a shell of his former self.

The eight-time Pro Bowler, two-time Super Bowl champion, and three-time First-Team All-Pro selection with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams had lost the explosiveness that he was famous for. He failed to make any significant contribution to the Bills’ run for the divisional run in 2023.

On top of that, Miller was arrested in his hometown of Dallas for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

He denied the charges, and she even sided with him, so the case went cold. During the recent NFL combine, Bills general manager Brandon Beane said he was optimistic about Miller having a better season compared to last year.

We're pretty confident in what we know; hence, we didn't make any drastic moves at the time. We know what we know, and unless we're presented with something different, we don't see anything that would alter Von [Miller] being back. We expect it to go away. We're hoping that he'll look more like he did the first [year] when we got him. He had 8.0 sacks in, whatever, nine or 10 games.
Beane said as per Sports Illustrated

The Bills will look to add fresh backups to help Miller. They already have Terrel Bernard and Tyrel Dodson ready to step in.
