On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns, led by their new quarterback Joe Flacco, went against the New York Jets in a crucial week 17 game and ended up winning comfortably. Following the Browns’ victory, the Cleveland home crowd was chanting Flacco’s name, which surprised the quarterback’s former teammate C.J. Mosley.
After the game was over, Joe Flacco was shaking the hands of his former teammates. That’s when C.J. Mosley — who came over to shake Flacco’s hands — was shocked to hear the Browns fans chanting Flacco’s name.
Who would’ve thought the f–king Browns would be screaming your name? That s–t crazy.Mosley said
The Jets linebacker was surprised since, at one stage in his career, Joe Flacco might’ve been one of the most hated athletes in Cleveland. Flacco and Mosley used to play together for the Baltimore Ravens, one of the AFC North division rivals of the Browns. The veteran quarterback once even led the Ravens to a Super Bowl ring during his tenure.
But, now, he is one of the most loved athletes in Cleveland. Flacco, a free agent, was roped in by the Browns just a few weeks ago after they lost both their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson and their second-string signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Everyone thought the Browns season was over after Thompson-Robinson’s injury, but Joe Flacco has given a new life to the Cleveland-based football team. He has a record of 4-1 as the Browns starting quarterback and has led them to the postseason despite having an injury-riddled roster.
Joe Flacco is one of the favorites to win the CPOY award
The veteran quarterback Joe Flacco — who couldn’t find a team ahead of the 2023 season — is now one of the frontrunners for the 2023 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.

In the 5 games, he has started so far, Flacco has registered 1,616 passing yards and 13 touchdowns while completing 69.3% of his pass attempts. On the back of his good outings, the Browns have qualified for the playoffs for just the second time in the last 2 decades.
Apart from Flacco, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, and the Los Angeles Rams leader Matthew Stafford are also in the conversation to win the award. However, the Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin remains the favorite to bag the hardware.
As for the Browns, they have successfully punched their tickets to the postseason. Now, they would be focused on defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, who the Browns are scheduled to face next in their final regular season game.
