The Ohio State football team is 10-0 this season. They are at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings this season and that is largely due to the performances of their wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He is one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season and break the quarterbacks hold on the coveted award. His former OSU teammate, C.J. Stroud certainly thinks so.
Harrison so far this season has tallied 59 receptions for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns. In their latest game against the Michigan State Spartans, Harrison went off for 149 yards in 7 receptions and 2 touchdowns. Stroud has given his verdict on this year’s Heisman Trophy and he feels like Harrison should win the award.
Stroud said on the Let’s Go! podcast with Tom Brady and Larry Fitzgerald:
Marvin is the best player in the country. If he doesn’t win the Heisman, it’s rigged. I’m calling it now. If he does not win the Heisman, it is rigged.
That is a big statement but the trophy has generally gone to a quarterback over the years. Stroud and Harrison played together for 2 seasons at OSU, developing fantastic chemistry.
Stroud was drafted second overall by the Houston Texans this year. He has taken the NFL storm this season as he has broken multiple rookie records this season. The Texans won a crucial game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and will play their next game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Texans’ HC DeMeco Ryans praises QB C.J. Stroud for his performances
The Houston Texans have drafted a gem. C.J. Stroud, the rookie quarterback for the Texans has taken the league by storm and is the clear favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He led the Texans to an impressive victory against the Cincinnati Bengals and their HC DeMeco Ryans had high praise for his QB’s performance.
Ryans said after the game:
The thing about C.J. is just the calmness in the chaos. He doesn’t waver. He’s confident he’s going to make plays.
Stroud finished the game with 356 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. He led the Texans on a last-minute game-winning drive against the Bengals.
The Texans are 5-4 this season. They have punched above their weight and Stroud is the major reason why. The rookie quarterback has thrown for 2,626 yards and 15 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions so far this season. The Texans will hope to continue this form and reach the playoffs this season.
