The Houston Texans are taking on the New York Jets in the Big Apple this week. The young and hungry Texans have had a tremendous season and their QB C.J. Stroud has been a major reason for that. However, another massive part of the Texans’ success this year has been their rookie receiver Tank Dell. Unfortunately, Dell won’t play any further part in the Texans’ journey this season as he was ruled out because of an injury he suffered last week.
Dell suffered a fractured fibula during the Texans’ week 13 win over the Denver Broncos. He left the game and was later ruled out for the remainder of the season. The Texans showed their young receiver support prior to their week 14 game against the Jets several players, including Stroud and running backs Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary wore Dell’s shirt during pregame warmups.
The Texans posted videos of players practising with Dell’s shirt and the team captioned the video,“For 3.” MLFootball also posted a picture of Stroud standing in the endzone wearing a Dell shirt prior to the game. Dell and Stroud have been a brilliant QB-WR duo this season, connecting for seven touchdowns. The rookie receiver is leading the Texans in touchdowns while being second in receptions (47) and receiving yards (709).
Stroud will be without his fellow rookie receiver for the remainder of the season, but the Texans are still in a good position to claim a playoff spot this season. They will hope to win as many games as possible and win a Wild Card berth in a tight AFC conference.
C.J. Stroud calls Tank Dell his best friend in the Texans team
The Houston Texans’ two talented rookies, C.J. Stroud and Tank Dell have lit the NFL on fire this season. They have been one of the best QB-WR duos in the league and have been in sync throughout the season. So when Dell went down with a season-ending injury against the Denver Broncos last Sunday, it affected Stroud the most. He talked about Dell and their relationship in the latest episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’
Stroud said on the show:
It's hard to really speak about it still. Right now, my prayers are still out with Tank. ... Tank Dell is probably my best friend on the team. We'll be a great duo for the (future). I love him to death and I'm here for him.C.J Stroud on The Pat McAfee Show
The Texans are currently playing against the New York Jets in their week 14 matchup. They will take on the Tennessee Titans in their next game. They have a chance to make the playoffs this year as they are 7-5 so far through 13 weeks. It will be a fascinating storyline to follow in the coming weeks.
