Among the many prominent titles honored to the NFL legend Tom Brady, the most popular is his GOAT title for being the winningest quarterback in the history of the NFL. However, Caleb Williams thinks otherwise.
Ever since the USC star quarterback became the most likely candidate to be the No.1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, he seemed to making a hell lot of headlines. First, for his decision to decline the medical examination at the NFL Scouting Combine held in Indianapolis, and now his controversial pick for the GOAT.
The Ohio State star has previously laid out his goal for the NFL, as he aims to follow in the footsteps of the Chicago Bears’ legends after getting selected by the franchise. But this time, when asked about whom he considered the GOAT in the NFL, his response came quite surprising.
Though he acknowledged Brady’s deserving candidacy for the prominent title, Williams told CBS Sports,
Football, winning and things like that, mentality – Tom Brady. (However) My football GOAT is Aaron Rodgers.
This isn’t the first time the young quarterback has mentioned the New York Jets star quarterback during his pre-draft interviews. Just a few days ago, when asked about his size and height, Williams made an interesting comparison to Rodgers–claiming they both are of the same size and height.
Where will Caleb Williams land: Chicago Bears or Minnesota Vikings?
With the Bears having the No. 1 pick for the upcoming NFL Draft, there has been quite a boatload of debates over whether the franchise would pass on the option and give Justin Fields another chance or start fresh with the 2022 Heisman trophy winner. The debate hasn’t come to a rest and perhaps won’t until the 2024 NFL Drafts begin.
Apart from the Bears, Williams is also likely to consider the Minnesota Vikings as a prospect. And as he stated previously, he will do the medical examinations with these prospective teams only, during the pre-draft process.
For now, the 22-year-old seemed to have indulged himself in learning about the NFL legends, among which he has picked Rodgers as his role model.
