The USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams is currently the biggest name in college football. He is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which will take place after the end of the ongoing season. On Saturday, Williams and the Trojans went to Arizona to face the Arizona State football team and defeated them.
While Caleb Williams and the Trojans trashed the Arizona State Sundevils, Monti Ossenfort, the general manager of the Arizona Cardinals was in attendance possibly to scout the future potential first-round draft pick Caleb. Following the game, Caleb Williams was asked by the reporters about a quote the Trojans quarterback’s dad shared in an interview with GQ.
Caleb’s dad Carl Williams recently gave an interview with GQ where he said that Kyler Murray is struggling in his NFL career because of the franchise that drafted him. Furthermore, Williams’ dad claimed that if a bad team got the 1st overall pick in next year’s draft, Williams might return to play for USC again.
“I’ve talked to (USC coach) Lincoln (Riley), and (Cardinals quarterback) Kyler (Murray) struggled because of where he was drafted, The organizations matter. He’s got two shots at the apple. So if there’s not a good situation, the truth is, he can come back to school,” said Carl.
That comment was now reminded to Williams by a reporter in the post-game interview who asked Williams’ stance on playing for the Cardinals. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner slyly managed to evade the question.
“I got eight games left,” Williams said. “Those are the eight guaranteed that I have, and then we’re working on the next three. We got a tough opponent versus Colorado this week coming up.”
Caleb Williams is looking to make college football history
The young quarterback Caleb Williams is currently a leading candidate to win the Heisman Trophy for the 2023 college football season. He has already won the Heisman once in his career and is now looking to make history.
If the USC quarterback Williams wins the Heisman Trophy this year, he will become the first player in college football history to win the prestigious award in consecutive years.
Williams currently has 1,200 passing yards, and 15 touchdowns while having 0 interceptions. Caleb Williams will continue his quest for the Heisman Trophy when the No.5 USC Trojans take on the No.19 Colorado Buffaloes in a Pac-12 rivalry game next weekend.
