The NFL Draft is always a fun time. The anticipation of which team will select what player is a very exciting feeling. The possibility of finding a gem in the second or third round is what makes this a very exciting process. However, there is a possibility that the consensus first-overall pick for next season, USC QB Caleb Williams, might not enter next year’s draft.

Williams told ESPN in a recent interview that he might not declare for the 2024 NFL draft and it is an ‘in-the-moment decision’. “That’s for sure now going to be an in-the-moment decision at the end of the year,” Williams told ESPN. “It’s my third year, and the dream and goal was to go three-and-out. Being around these guys and in college and enjoying it, we’ll have to see at the end of this year.”

Williams had a great college season last year and won the Heisman Trophy. He led USC to the Pac-12 title game as he threw for more than 4,500 yards and 42 touchdowns. USC went 11-3 under their third-year starter.

Williams is speculated to not enter next year’s draft as he might not want to play for the team that eventually ends up with the No. 1 overall pick. Williams transferred to USC from Oklahoma in 2022. NFL teams in need for a true quarterback will hope that the college star does enter the draft next year. Only time will tell what Williams decides.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft, if he decides to declare for it. He was the best college player last season. He threw for 4,537 yards and scored 52 total touchdowns enroute to winning the Heisman trophy in 2022. He is in no rush to decide whether he wants to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft or not.

There are some NFL teams that will hope he does so. Williams is the kind of player that can change an NFL team’s fortune. Some teams, according to CBS Sports, that will have an eye on him in the draft will be the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Commanders to name a few.

The Cardinals already have a former no. 1 pick at quarterback in Kyler Murray, but he has failed to make the desired impact so far in Arizona. He tore his ACL last season and this season might be his last chance to prove that he is still the man in Arizona. Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, to retirement earlier in the year and the Commanders, simply, need a quarterback. No matter where he goes though, Williams is going to be good, probably very good.
